Gonna make you sweat
Do you sweat more the day after a swim workout?
It's gonna make you sweat 'til you bleed
Is that dope enough? Indeed
- C&C Music Factory, Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)
Truer words have not been said.
Can you imagine? Sweating until you bleed? I mean I’ve been playing endurance sports long enough that I’ve experienced my fair share of chafing (I once had a to walk in flip flops for a week following a 70.3)…so not sure if that’s what the owners of C&C Music Factory meant or not. Speaking of…I wonder if “the factory” is still open. I imagine a world where they had to shut down after the workers tried to unionize and they all walked out in protest over management. But I digress.
If you haven’t guessed by now I’m vamping….because I can’t find any sort of confirmation or validation of my lived experience that is (and bear with me as I explain)…whatever workout I have the day following a swim workout (so yesterday I swam for over an hour and today I was on my bike for 75 minutes), I sweat overly profusely during that workout. Like sooooo much sweat. So on a day like today where there is nothing abnormal in the house or the outdoor temp — other than it’s wicked cold and dry as a saltine — spinning a difficult but none to crazy workout and this is me:
I had to change out towels and I whisked away the sweat of my brow so much so that I I have what I can only describe as towel burn on my forehead.
I tried doing some research — and by research I mean Googling a couple variations of the query string “day after swim workout sweating” — only to end up in a search cul de sac of “did you know swimmers sweat in the pool?”
Not sure what I was hoping to find out. Maybe that I am part SpongeBob Squarepants.
